C´est ici que je travaille. Je n´ai pas encore tout à fait fini de ranger depuis le déménagement (le 2 ème en 1 an !) mais bon... En ce moment, je passe quasiment tout mon temps devant l´ordinateur à peaufiner le texte français de mon livre de tricot : Le tricot jacquard islandais ou le renouveau de la semelle tricotée islandaise. Il pourra être téléchargé sur mon site ou via amazon prochainement, j´espère. Merci de faire passer !

This is where I work. It´s not completely finished but...well, we´ve been moving twice between houses in only one year ! At the moment, I spend most of my time in front of the computer, rewritting my Icelandic knitting book in French . The text will be soon available for download on my website and on Amazon. A gift for Myrna

Un cadeau pour Myrna

Here is an Icelandic yoke sweater for Myrna. She´s one year old already but this is a birth gift, very useful in the cold weather :-) Icelandic Lopi wool is incredibly warm, light, water-repellant and self-cleaning, yes all that !

Pattern is taken from a sweater designed by Védis Jónsdóttir for latest Ístex book nr. 28 (Ístex is the first wool producer in Iceland). I made some changes in the motifs (I´m working on my stach!), added a hood and my little color touch for the zip...
Thre are some free patterns on Ístex´s website but they don´t sale wool to individuals. On the other hand, you can order Icelandic wool at the Handknitting Association of Iceland: it´s very economical right now ! Also available from JCA by Reynolds.

Voici un petit pull islandais pour la jolie Myrna. Elle a déjà plus d´1 an mais c´est son cadeau de naissance, très approprié par les grands froids qui courent :-) A peine filée, la laine islandaise Lopi est incroyablement chaude, légère, déperlante et auto-nettoyante, si si, tout ça !

Le modèle est repris d´un modèle créé par Védis Jónsdóttir pour le dernier magasine Ístex nr. 28 (Ístex est la principal produteur de laine en Islande). Avec quelques petits changements dans les motifs, les couleurs (j´utilise mes restes de laine !) et surtout une capuche et ma petite touche de couleur dans la fermeture éclair...
Ístex propose des modèles gratuits sur son site mais ne vend pas de laine au détail. Vous pouvez en revanche la commander à l´Association de tricot d´Islande (Handknitting Association of Iceland) : la couronne a tellement baissé que ce serait dommage de ne pas en profiter !

Lately, I´ve been sending quite a few free scarf patterns all over the world (not much in French, though...). When I offered the pattern for free, I wanted it to be automatically downloaded on a simple click but I encountered some technical problems (I will spare you the details). As a result, I have to activate the dowload manually, after you send me an email asking for the pattern. First I thought it was so annoying, but then after I got all your kind comments on your emails, I´m so happy with it and I want to thank you all for your support and the warm words. I know you´ve heard it before on the blogs, but it is true , it is really really great to have some feed back and encourages me to continue !

Ces derniers temps, j´ai envoyé pas mal de modèles d´écharpes gratuits un peu partout dans le monde (presque rien en français cela dit !). Lorsque j´ai offert le modèle, je voulais qu´il puisse être téléchargé automatiquement sur un simple click de votre part, mais ce n´était pas possible (je vous passe les détails techniques). Je dois donc déclencher le téléchargement manuellement, après que vous m´avez envoyé un email me le demandant. Je le trouvais assez contraignant d´abord, mais je ne le regrette pas du tout lorsque je lis tous les commentaires qui accompagnent vos emails. Merci beaucoup pour votre soutien, vos mots chaleureux et votre enthousiasme. Ca fait vraiment du bien !

My felted lights are working with european power lights. In order to respond to the demand of non-europeans customers, mostly from the US and Canada and from countries with a different voltage than in Europe, I ordered some battery operated lights on the internet. This way I could solved all those electric compatibility problems easily, at least I thought... It all went well but until it arrived to Luxembourg. They couldn´t be delivered to me because they were not conform to european norms. In other words, the fact that they are battery operated doesn´t seem to matter at all, what only seem to matter is the missing stamp CE... So, I´m still working on it and am trying to find the exact same lights I ordered, but marked CE...

Mes séries lumineuses en feutre marchent avec des séries électriques européennes. Pour répondre à la demande venant de pays utilisant un autre type de voltage, essentiellement les Etats-Unis et le Canada, j´ai commandé des séries électriques marchant avec des piles. De cette façon, les problèmes de compatiblité électrique étaient réglés, du moins c´est ce que je pensais... Tout s´est bien passé, jusqu´à ce que les séries arrivent au Luxembourg mais ne puissent pas m´être livrées car elles ne seraient pas conformes aux normes européennes. En d´autres termes, le fait qu´elles marchent avec de spiles ne semble pas important, la seule chose qui compte c´est que l´étiquette avec marqué CE dessus ne figure pas... Donc, je suis toujours à la recherche de séries lumineuses électriques, exactement les mêmes, mais marquées CE...

Violette (bien qu´appelée Rosa - ?? - ) a bien chaud dans la neige avec son petit pull typiquement islandais. Du sur mesure Hélène Magnússon bien sûr ! Une bonne année et plein de merci pour celle qui vient de passer, comme on le dit en islandais !
