In Handmade Living, Piece Work Magazine Knitting traditions, The Knitter

I've not been very good lately at blogging about publications in the press. So now I make up for it! It's not so much about show-off than the need to keep track of things and record the main publications in one place. More to come.

Dernièrement, je n'ai pas été très efficace à lister sur ce blog les parutions dans la presse. Donc je me rattrape! Ce n'est pas tant de l'autosatisfaction que le besoin de garder des traces des parutions principales et les regrouper à un endroit. Plus à venir.

I was very happy with this 2 double page article  in stylish Handmade Living magazine. Like the cover says, it was all about an Icelandic Adventure: knitting by the fjords!

J'étais ravie de découvrir cet article de deux doubles pages dans le magazine Handmade Living sur mes voyages de tricot.

I'm always excited when a new issue of Piece Work Magazine Knitting traditions comes out, but when I have a pattern in it, I am even more excited! The Halldora shawl was featured there and that may explained why I'm out of stock of Love Story yarn in white... but do not worry more is on the way toward the end of the month and the shawl looks very good in natural brown and black as well!

Je suis toujours un peu excitée quand un nouveau numéro de Piece Work Magazine Knitting traditions sort mais quand j'ai un modèle dedans , je le suis encore plus! Le long châle Halldora y figurait et cela explique probablement en partie pourquoi je n'ai plus du tout de laine islandaise Love Story en blanc... mais ne vous inquiétez pas, elle revient vers la fin du moi et le châle est très joli aussi en brun ou noir naturel!

In Issue 56 of The Knitter, Rosee Woodland, editor, has "fallen in love with Helene Magnusson's Icelandic cardigan with its pretty patterned border". She was referring to my Skautbuningur sweater, a sneakpeak from my new book Icelandic handknits !

A perfect afternoon in Reykjavík and a spider

Une parfaite après-midi à Reykjavík et une araignée

Early in the afternoon, I went to pick up Aðalbjörg, 97 years old this year. She is the lovely and talented lady behind the lace knitted dresses and the book I've been working on for sometime now. We drove down Laugavegur street, one of Icelanders favorite pass time - there's even a special expression for it. Then we stopped at the National Museum of Iceland and admire the lovely knit exhibition called Kónguló, Spider. Exhibited are shawls and mittens in the collection of the Icelandic Handicraft Association. Many of the shawls you will find the pattern of in the book Three Cornered and Long shawls, book that was commanded by the Association at the time. The Association is 100 years old this year and there has been lots of events, conferences, exhibitions related to it all year long.  The exhibition was opened in May (sorry I didn't blog about it before!) and will be opened until November 23rd. If you are a knitter in Reykjavík, don't miss it! You can then end the visit at the Museum's cafe with a delicious cake like Aðalbjörg and I did before heading home!

Tôt dans l'après-midi, je suis allée chercher Aðalbjörg, 97 ans cette année. C'est la vieille dame talentueuse derrière les robes en dentelle sur laquelle j'écris un livre (depuis quelques temps déjà!). Nous avons  descendu Laugavegur en voiture, l'un des passe-temps favori des Islandais - il y a même une expression spéciale pour cela- en direction du Musée National d'Islande pour aller voir l'exposition  de tricot Kónguló, Araignée. Y sont exposés des châles et moufles dans la collection de l'Association pour l'Artisanat d'Islande à l'occasion des 100 ans de celle-ci cette année. Beaucoup des châles exposés, vous retrouverez les patrons dans le livre sur les Châles traditionnels islandais qui avait été commandité à l'époque par l'Association et dont j'ai fait la traduction en français. L'exposition a été ouverte fin mai (je n'ai pas eu/pris le temps de poster avant!) et dure jusqu'au 23 novembre 2013. Si vous êtes un(e) tricoteuse(eur) à Reykjavík, ne la manquez surtout pas! Vous pouvez, comme Aðalbjörg et moi, finir la visite avec une délicieuse part de gâteau au Café du Musée!

Last year, a abnormally early snow blizzard North of Iceland buried in snow and killed many thousands sheep. So when a storm was announced for the week-end, farmers hurried to gather the sheep right away. A few pictures from last week's round-up by the lake Mývatn (remember my Knitting in the North's group, I "gathered" you in this lovely "rétt" made of lava stones :-). The soup is over here!

L'année dernière, un anormalement précoce blizzard au Nord de l'Islande avait enseveli sousal neige et tué plusieurs milliers de moutons. Alors lorsqu'un avis de tempête a été annoncé pour le week-end dernier, les fermiers se sont dépêchés de rassembler les moutons. Quelques images du tri la semaine dernière près du lac aux moucherons Mývatn (souvenez-vous mon groupe de tricot du Voyage au Nord de l'Islande, je vous ai "rassemblés" dans ce charmant "rétt" en pierres de lave :-).
