I'm browsing through my pictures to illustrate the knitting tours for next year.  So many wonderful souvenirs of trekking I've been guiding in Iceland. Can't help but sharing some with you.

After 2 days constant rain, unusually heavy, we cross what should have been a tiny little strain - Après 2 jours de pluie constante, on traverse ce qui aurait dû n'être qu'un minuscule ruisseau

After the rain comes the sun that dries everything! - Après la pluie, le beau temps et tout sèche!

With all that water, the waterfall is even mor beautiful - Avec toute cette eau, la cascade n'en est que plus belle

I also play the nurse! - Je joue à l'infirmière aussi!

Bathing in a crack : the water is 107°F ! - On se baigne dans une faille: l'eau est à 42°C!

Festival de la laine en Belgique

Wool Festival in Belgium

A bit more of self-contentment to share this week: The Icelandic Knitter is the very special guest of the 4th annual Wool Festival in Belgium, June, 25th and 26th, close Namur (see directions). I will also have a workshop on Saturday from 14 to 17h. Aren't those just exciting news?

Encore un peu plus de contentement cette semaine: le tricot islandais et Tricoteuse d'Islande sont à l'honneur lors du 4ème Festival de la laine en Belgique, qui a lieu à la Filature du Hibou près de Namur (voir plan d'accès),  les 25 et 26 juin.

I have a four pages spread in the French Burda- Fait main, special knitting: about me and knitting, the magazine, the knitting tours, the new books projects. How exciting is that?

Il y a un article de 4 pages sur Tricoteuse d'Islande, le tricot et moi, les voyages, le magazine, les projets à venir, dans le dernier Burda - Fait main, spécial Tricot. Super excitant, non?

"Wools of Europe" on the road

"Laines d'Europe" à Gap

If you missed the exhibition "Wools of Europe" that presented a hundred of European wool breed along wonderful designs made with the wool, here is a new opportunity: the exhibition is travelling and will be at the Musée Museum départemental de Gap in France from June 19th  until September 28th, 2011. The official opening will be on July, 1st.

Si vous aviez raté l'exposition "Laines d'Europe" l'année passée à Rambouillet, qui présentait une centaine de races de moutons d'Europe, avec pour illustrer des créations faites avec la laine, voici une occasion à ne pas manquer: l'exposition voyage et sera au Musée Museum départemental de Gap en France du 19 juin au 28 septembre 2011. Le vernissage officiel aura lieu le 1er juillet.

You always need a Brynja or an Olga in Normandy (in Icelandic norður, North, maður in singular/menn in plural, man: the Normands, the men from the North), no matter how good the weather is!
On a toujours besoin d'un Brynja et d'un Olga chez les Normands (en islandais norður, le Nord, maður au singulier/menn au pluriel, l'homme: les hommes du Nord) même s'il fait très beau!

Chausey

In front of the sund (it's Icelandic for pool!) of Chausey (it's Icelandic for isle - eyja, ey in old Norse; the etymology for Chaus is still debated...).

Devant le sund (c'est de l'islandais pour piscine, bassin!) de Chausey (c'est de l'islandais pour île - eyja, ey en vieux norroi, l'étymologie de Chaus est encore débattue...).
