I already talked to you about that one...
Je vous en avais déjà parlé...

...show you a few teasing pictures...

...and I had talked to you about how I couldn' t find matching buttons, so I solved the problem with snaps buttons!

An adorable shaped little doll, knitted entirely in the round without seams and a lot of techniques fun to use: symetrical decreases and increases, short rows, disappearing loop cast on, provisional cast on, a touch of intarsia.

To dress up little Theodora in something else than her lovely underwears (the little white dress is called klukka), I also made fo her teh tarditional costume, peysufot.

Ah lala lalala

Here we are, almost midnight, 16th of September... and Issue 01 is not happening... everything is ready though ... but we didn't expect the lubies of my internet connection.... Apparently, it will take two days to upload all the pattern PDFs to the website! Fortunately, it will take only a few seconds for you to download them! But you will have to be patient until after the week-end. I refuse to work on Sunday! - well, actually I don't, it's my husband and my children who don't want me too... but I can knit instead, yeah!!!!

Guess who's on the picture?

Gasp

It was probably very unreasonnable to plan publishing first issue between the Wild North Ysolda tour (that went great, I'll post about it very soon) and the IknitWeekender (that went great too and I'll post about it very soon too!). So, we decided to postpone it to September 16th, that would be the day after tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some pictures of the photoshoot.

The first issue has been wrapped but you'll have to wait until 10th of September to see it... We're leaving tomorrow morning for Hveravellir for our knitting tour with Ysolda, in the middle of Iceland. Finally some quality knitting ahead!

Working...

Working like crazy and still crazy about the Mac. Love the Photo Booth: so practical to communicate knitting details! Back to work!

Packing up!

I'm leaving to Iceland tomorrow morning with all the family and I'm still packing, trying to figure out what knitting projects, what yarn , what samples to take with me... We will be away for the all month and there's plenty to do. There is the first issue to wrap up, the knitting tour with Ysolda as a guest teacher beginning of September, my Icelandic intarsia workshop, then the opening of the Dialogue exhibition in Finlande the 7th of September, the Issue 01 going live the 9th , the IknitWeekender the 10h and 11th where I will offer an Icelandic intarsia workshop. Not to mention the girls going back to school somewhere in the between... Thanks god I have my darling Mac following me everywhere!

Heureusement, mon Mac chéri me suit partout !

Back home

Retour d´Islande (comme le livre !)

Finally back home after a great first knitting trip . Participants were coming from the US, Canada, UK and even Australia!

First contact with raw Icelandic wool at Rita´s where we also got a bit crazy with buttons and jewels made of sheep and deer horns... The process to transform the horns take at least one year.

Very serious during the workshops in our peaceful knitting room at hotel Hraunsnef.

On the way to Ullarfoss, the woolen waterfall. Then a coffee break right in the middle of the sheephouse with fresh milk from the cow and home made rhubarbe pie at Helga´s farm. You can even adopt an Icelandic sheep, there! You get news, pictures, the wool and the lambs!

It´not dirty, it´s geothermal water directly from the ground and it´s hot and it´s good and the minerals make the skin so soft. What a treat!

Pure Icelandic cashmere in our hands at Jóhanna´s goat farm. The breed has stayed pure since the Settlement in 900 and Jóhanna is doing a wonderful job preserving it.

And newbies: snow socks, worn over the shoes with an insert with a flowerpot motif sewn under. The best to walk safely on slipery ice or snow.

Getting to know the Icelandic better with Ásdís. Look at the "master piece" I made from the wool I carded, spun and knit myself!

Loosing it completely at Ullarsellið, with wonderful handspun Icelandic yarn, hand dyied with Icelandic plants.

When the trip was over, there was still enough to do with the Loops festival at the Nordic house but I´ll tell you more about it and show you pictures later this week.
Oh, and I forgot, there was a very nice interview with me on Air d´Islande, here. Thanks Charlotte!

Merci Charlotte!

The French blogs tour goes on with my knitting book.
