Olga

Sylvía´s sweater, knitted by her great-grand-mother Olga, has gone too small. Made of Icelandic wool, warm and light, the sweater is worn everyday, except on summer. Sadly, Olga left us just a few weeks ago. So I picked up my needles and started knitting a new sweater for Sylvía, just like the old one, and it´s called Olga.

Olga was a great knitter. You could ask her to knit a sweater in about any size, and just like that, she always came up with one that fitted perfectly. She disliked to follow instructions and would rather spin something up as she knitted. She took a particular care of the making up, which she considered to be half the work. Her knits can be found all over the world. For her 90 years old, a few years ago, she was given a book with pictures of just a few of her knitted pieces. You can have a look at it here.

  2. I want to share an experience. I had tried to knit sweater for my new born niece. But I was really bad in it because the final product had one arm longer than the other. Then after my granny made some effort so my niece can wear it. I think grandma is the one who can make sweater best fit for child. :-)
