I started a long term project: sew myself a traditional Icelandic costume, a "upphlutur" and "peysuföt" from the 18th century. First step this autumn: I followed a baldýring workshop or golden embroidery. I drew the motif for my costume and prepared for the embroidery itself.

J'ai entrepris un projet de longue haleine: me faire un costume traditionnel islandais, un "upphlutur" et "peysuföt" du 18ème siècle. Premiers pas cet automne lorsque j'ai donc appris le baldýring ou la broderie d'or. J'ai aussi dessiné le dessin de mon costume et préparé le travail de broderie à proprement parler.

I can't believe I still haven't shown you pictures from my exhibition at the Textile Museum in Blönduós, Iceland, where all the designs from my book "Icelandic Handknits" are showcased... The exhibition was opened in June 2013 and stands until May 2014. Although the Museum is officially closed during wintertime, it can always be opened to groups on simple demand, so don't hesitate to call the Museum or send an email if you have the opportunity. If not, take the virtual tour!

Je peux à peine croire que je ne vous ai toujours pas montré de photos de mon exposition au Musée textile de Blönduós  en Islande où sont exposés tous les modèles de "Tricots islandais"... L'exposition est en place depuis juin 2013 et demeure jusqu'en mai 2014. Bien que le Musée soit officiellement fermé pendant l'hiver, il est toujours possible pour les groupes de le visiter sur simple demande. N'hésitez pas à appeler le Musée ou envoyer un mail si vous en avez l'occasion. Sinon, en route pour la visite virtuelle!

Elle a appris le tricot dentelle pendant le tricot-treck au pays des Elfes l'année passé, et maintenant on ne l'arrête plus! Châle de printemps islandais dans toutes sortes de couleurs.

At the Craft and needle show in Paris, it was love at first sight with Myrobolan, a project of yarns dyed artisanally with the plants from Charlotte's gardens in France and Belgium (she is the one on the picture). Natural fibers, artisan production, French mill, fair-trade, wonderfully delicate colors, how not to fall for?

Le grand coup de coeur du salon ça été Myrobolan, une petite entreprise de fils naturels avec des teintures artisanales et des coloris délicats, obtenus à partir des plantes qui poussent dans le jardin auvergnat de Charlotte, la demoiselle sur la photo. Un jardin Bruxellois aussi. Et puis des matières naturelles, une filature française qui favorise le commerce équitable, comment ne pas craquer?

I was very reasonable and got only 2 skeins of Grelin (wool et tweed mohair) for a hat and 3 skeins of Mouraillé (wool and linen) for a shawl kit gift for someone who loves purple!

Je m'en suis sagement tenue à 2 pelotes de Grelin (laine et tweed mohair) pour un bonnet et 3 pelotes de Mouraillé (laine et lin) pour un kit de châle à offrir à quelqu'un qui adore le violet!

At FacileCécile, a sewing kit for my sweet Thea (11 years old) who really wants to learn how to embroider, just like her sister (12 year old): easy! (this in a punt on FacileCecile name - Easy with Cecily). Did you see it? Cécile had decorated her stand with the Elves lights she knitted!

Chez la jolie Cécile, un kit nécessaire à couture pour ma mignonne Théa (11 ans) qui a très très envie de se mettre à la broderie, comme sa grande soeur (12 ans): facile! Vous avez vu, Cécile avait accroché sa guirlande Lumières des Elfes sur son stand!

At Renaissance Dyeing,  one skein for a sweater project... I'll show it to you in March... And this time I allowed myself to fall for the 75 + 27 (with recipes from the 16th century) natural dyed colors: I ven know what I'm going to do with them...

Chez Renaissance Dyeing,  un écheveau pour un projet de pull... vous en saurez plus au mois de mars... Et puis j'ai craqué sur les 75 + 27 (avec des procédés du 16ème siècle) coloris de teintures naturelles: je sais même ce que je vais faire avec...

But I didn't find any buttons...
